Service of NoticeNotice can be given in person or sent by certified or registered mail. You may have trouble bringing the notice to a tenant’s attention because he is away or evading the notice. Then it will be sufficient if you give the notice to any adult who lives with the tenant or if you post the notice in a conspicuous place at the rented premises – on the front door, for example. It is not acceptable to post only one notice in a common area where multiple suites have to be entered. Each residence must have its own notice. It is also not appropriate or proper service to slide a notice under a door. The notice can be served electronically where all other methods have not been possible. The notice can only be sent electronically where a printed copy will also be seen at the rented premises (fax). January 2006 |
