Rent
When you rent out a place to live in Alberta, you and the tenant can agree on whatever amount of rent is appropriate. There is no law that states what a fair rent is. You can offer a property at a certain rent and it is up to the tenant to take it at that price, negotiate a different price, or find another place to rent.
The rental issues covered by the Residential Tenancies Act are how and when rent can be increased, and what happens if rent is not paid.
