There is information available on a range of landlord and tenant issues on an automated message system. Alternatively, an agent can assist by listening to a concern or complaint. If an agent considers that an offence might have been committed under the Residential Tenancies Act, the complainant will be asked to put the information in writing. The matter is then passed to an investigating officer. The investigating officer will gather information about the case and can keep the complainant informed as to the progress of the investigation. When the investigation is finished, the investigator will make recommendations as to what should happen. Actions that can be taken as a result of an investigation include:
